'Alternative Alternatives' investment funds lose 1.65% in March (+2.24% YTD)

'Alternative Alternatives' investment strategies struggled last month, according to a first estimation based on 695 single- and multi-manager funds currently listed in 24 categories in the Opalesque Solutions A SQUARE Fund Database (Source).

The Opalesque A SQUARE Index lost* 1.65% in March, but are still up 2.24% in Q1. Estimates for February and January were corrected to +1.62% and +2.30% respectively. The A SQUARE Funds of Funds Index gained a marginal 0.03% last month, bringing the Q1 return to +1.65%.

The March loss was mainly driven by commodity and energy strategies, which account for approximately 30% of all funds in the A SQUARE database.
