Foreign investors are upbeat about the many opportunities in Brazil

Brazil-focused hedge fund managers have debunked a misconception that foreign investors are usually cautious in putting money into the region. On the contrary, the hedge fund managers who participated in the latest Opalesque Brazil Roundtable sponsored by Citi and Eurex were in the agreement that foreign investors are actually bullish about their prospects there.

One participant even said that there are many opportunities in Brazil that attract foreign investors.

Otávio Vieira, Partner and COO of Fides Asset Management with $200m in assets under management said, "Foreign investors are actually putting money into the Brazilian market since last year. They bought a lot of IPOs and follow-ons on those with substantial volumes. For this year, so until early March 2012, they bought over 7 billion reals in the BOVESPA, and foreigners are also very active in the private equity space. So, quite to the contrary, I believe we are in a position where foreign investors are more bullish on Brazil than even the local investors."

Vieira declared that Brazil’s credit is probably at the best position for at least the previous 40 years that makes the risk of a sovereign bon......................
