Hedge fund industry enjoys three consecutive months of positive growth

The hedge fund industry has sustained its positive growth this year posting upbeat returns the whole first quarter this year, according to the latest data from Morgan Stanley’s March ’12 Hedge Fund Recap.

According to the report, the positive returns of the hedge fund industry from January to March posted a median return of +0.68% and the average return was +0.32% in March.

Comparatively, other hedge fund indices reported positive gains last March with the Hennessee Hedge Fund Index reported +0.59% returns in March (+4.59% YTD). Charles Gradante, Managing Principal of Hennessee Group commented, "Hedge funds posted their best first quarter since 2006 but lagged equity markets as managers were conservatively positioned. However, with 77% of stocks currently trading above their 200 day moving average, many managers believe the market may be due for a correction."

The Greenwich Global Hedge Fund index was also up +0.04% in M......................
