Ashish Patel joins BNP Paribas Hong Kong as Head of Prime Brokerage Client Service

Prime broker Ashish Patel has just landed a new senior role; he is now Head of Prime Brokerage Client Services with BNP Paribas in Hong Kong, he told Opalesque.

This move follows a career of more than 14 years with Barclays Capital, the last three as Director of Prime Services, Asia Pacific. According to his LinkedIn profile, Patel started his career in 1996 in hedge funds operations at D.E. Shaw, a global investment firm with now around $26bn in investment capital. He joined Barclays in 1997, as Co-head of Equity Prime Brokerage Client Services, EMEA, in London. He moved to Singapore in 2006 and to Hong Kong this year.

BNP Paribas, a global banking group headquartered in Paris, is rated AA- by Standard & Poors; its market cap at the end of 2011 was Eur36.7bn ($48.4bn) and its total assets amounted to Eur1.9tln ($2.5tln). Eric Raynaud is Head of Asia-Pacific Region for the bank.
