Conifer expands reach of cloud services in hedge fund management

In an effort to reduce in-house technology load, some hedge funds are considering cloud-based administrative solutions. Conifer Group was one of the first fund administrators to market with such a solution with iCon, which provides cloud-based middle office support for hedge funds.

I spoke with Conifer Group’s CEO, Jack McDonald about iCon and what it means for funds.

Conifer iCon provides a full scope of asset servicing processes, including a data repository and in-depth attribution reporting through a fully customizable portal. All investment operations can be carried out from any location through a browser.

"We are the first cloud-based asset services company in the industry. We have a term that we use called 'cloudsourcing,’ which leverages a technology and service overlay on all of our services allowing investors to look dynamically at the portfolio, slicing and dicing data, and reporting in an investor portal that is easy to access, " McDonald said.

iCon serves a full scale cloud-based service architecture that provides a high level of transparency and interaction between investors and managers. Managers can show end-of-day as well as intraday tick-by-tick data for investors at both the position and securities level.
