Reviewing history is always valuable. Reviewing recent financial history, in today’s context, can also be enlightening. Should you wish to settle for a motion picture for a more succinct overview instead of the written words, here is an investigative film on the 2008 crisis, with a flair for connecting the dots.

Like "Too Big to fail", the film "Inside Job" (2010) is mostly U.S.-centric. It also tells of the 2008 crisis, but with much detail on how it all begun. That was before Iceland, "one of the purest financial deregulation experiments," started privatising its three little banks.
Eminent politicians, commissioners, regulators, fund managers, lobbyists, journalists, commentators, ministers, lawyers are interviewed by film director Charles Ferguson (who did "No end in Sight" on the Iraqi war), and commentaries are narrated by actor Matt Damon.
