Oryx Investment Management changes name to Optis Capital

Cape Town, South Africa-based Oryx Investment Management (Pty) Ltd., has announced that it has changed its name to Optis Capital (Pty) Ltd., says CEO Heiko van Wyngaarden. He said the decision to change the firm’s name was "to align ourselves more logically with our two funds (Optis African Frontier Fund and Optis Global Opportunities Fund), and with our FSA regulated UK associate, Optis Investment Management."

Both of the funds are domiciled in the Virgin Islands.

Van Wyngaarden clarified that only the company’s name has changed but their office address remains as well as their contact numbers. However their individual email addresses were also changed to reflect their new company name.

Aside from altering their name to Optis, Van Wyngaarden also announced the hiring as Cron von Seidel as a co-manager of the Optis Global. Von Seidel spent 10 years working for Coronation capital where he spent the last six years in London heading the firm’s proprietary investments unit.

In October 2009, co-managers Optis Investment Management and Oryx Investment Management launched the Optis African Frontier Fund, a long only pan-African fund. Van Wyngaarden, with his co-manager Gavin Butcher said they found numerous opportunities and attractive trading in Africa that influenced the fund launch (See Opalesque Exclusive: ......................
