Dr. Werner Goricki From Precy Dumlao, Opalesque Asia:
Renewable energy offers the biggest opportunity for investors outside of hedge funds, according to Dr. Werner Goricki, CIO of the $2.036bn (Euro 1.4bn) Frankfurt-based asset manager Prime Capital.
Speaking at the latest Opalesque Frankfurt Roundtable sponsored by Eurex and Custom House Group, Goricki explained that there are lots of projects available for development in the renewable energy sector.
But more significantly, the sector has been neglected over the last several years and is suffering from lack of capital. Hedge funds and investors can easily fill up the capital void in the industry where they will enjoy a huge choice of projects to select from.
"Some of these projects are of very good quality, and given their stable and high cash flows plus a long investment horizon, we see very strong interest from German institutional investors," Goricki added.
"Outside of Germany you see double-digit percentage IRRs on the projects, which for institutional end investors are very attractive returns," he explained.
