Mercer to acquire majority stake of Evaluation Associates

Global consultancy, outsourcing and investments services firm Mercer Investment Consulting, Inc., a subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. has confirmed it has agreed to buy the bulk of Evaluation Associates, the investment consulting arm of Milliman.

In a statement, Jeffrey Schutes, Mercer's U.S. Investment Consulting Chief, revealed that the firm has signed a definitive agreement with Milliman, Inc.," to acquire portions of its wholly-owned investment consulting subsidiary, Evaluation Associates LLC."

No details of the agreement were disclosed to the public, but the firm added the accord would be finalized before June 30 this year.

Upon completion, this will be Mercer’s second acquisition of an investment consulting firm in 2011, having completed its acquisition of Hammond Associates effective January 3, 2011. The Evaluation Associates acquisition further strengthens Mercer’s investment consulting in the US, and is an indication of Mercer’s commitment to this business.
