The global association for investment professionals, the CFA Institute, has published, through its research foundation, a timely and detailed guide for investment trustees, A Primer for Investment Trustees Source.
Co-authored by Thomas M. Richards, CFA, chairman of the Research Foundation Board of Trustees and a consultant to the Nuveen HydePark Group; Jeffery V. Bailey, CFA, director, Financial Benefits & Analysis at Target Corporation; and Jesse L. Phillips, CFA, a member of the Treasurer’s Office of the University of California system, the primer is a comprehensive discussion of a range of issues relevant to investment trustees.
The Institute says: “Trustees serve at public and private pension funds, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, and Taft–Hartley funds, among others. Trustees bear responsibility for setting investment policy and assessing performance, and the funds at which they serve rely on them to provide oversight of their investment programs. The Primer will provide trustees with a knowledge base that will enable them to fulfill their responsibilities successfully.”
Designed to help trustees who may have a great deal of responsibility but a difficult task in keeping up with the investment world, the authors particularly stress that it is a relatively easy read.
