Varus Fund up 7.4% in January, optimistic for February

The Cayman-domiciled Varus Capital Management's Varus Fund, which is advised by Heieck Siebrecht Capital Advisors, a Zurich-based alternative investment advisor founded by Stefan Heieck and Frank Siebrecht in 2009, ended January up 7.4% and anticipates it will continue its positive performance this February. The fund ended 2010 up 19.6%.

Varus said in its monthly correspondence to investors, "In February so far Varus has continued its strong performance path. We currently have more ideas then we can invest, since we remain disciplined in our management of net and gross exposure. We thank our old and new investors, and those who have increased their holdings, for their support and trust in our work."

Since its launch in September 2009, Varus said that Sky Deutschland has been its best performing investment after gaining 63% last month. "We highlighted our Sky Deutschland investment case in the October 2010 letter with 160% share price upside to Euro 3.30 per share- a price the stock just hit. We scaled out of the position towards our price target, but we are still invested, although with a smaller portfolio weighting than in the past. We had several meetings with the Sky Deutschland management and the investor relations team over the past 12 months," the report added.
