On March 3, 2011, the hedge fund industry will gather at Cipriani 42nd Street, raising money during the 13th Annual New York Open Your Heart to the Children Benefit to benefit the charity Hedge Funds Care.
Last year’s NYC gala raised over $2m when over 1,100 hedge fund managers, investors and service providers converged on Cipriani’s 42nd street in the middle of a wintry blast of snow to support a charity that has quickly grown global in its reach. The mission of Hedge Funds Care is the prevention and treatment of child abuse, and the charity raises and grants money to child welfare organizations. Since its inception in 1998, the Hedge Funds Care has awarded over 660 grants totaling $23m.
This year’s event will once again be held at Cipriani 42nd Street, and Anthony Scaramucci, Managing Partner at Skybridge Capital will be receiving the Hedge Funds Care Award for Caring, in recognition for extraordinary commitment to philanthropy. Scaramucci, who in addition to his role at Skybridge also authored a book this year (“Goodbye Gordon Gekko: How to Find Your Fortune Without Losing Your Soul”) and oversees one of the industry’s most well-known, industry events, (the SALT Conference), also makes time for charitable work.
