Och-Ziff's four hedge funds gain in January

All four Och-Ziff Capital Management Group's funds generated positive estimated gains in January with its main fund, the Oz Master Fund, posting a 1.13% increase. But the biggest growth was posted by its Oz Europe Master Fund with a 2.50% gain in the same month.

A regulatory filing on Tuesday showed that Och-Ziff's two other funds were on a positive roll as well as the Oz Asia Master Fund which returned 0.72% while the Oz Global Special Investment Master Fund rose 1.77%.

Last year, Och-Ziff reported a remarkable rebound as its main hedge fund, the Oz Master Fund ended 2009 up 23% and wiped off its 2008 losses.

Last December, the Europe Master Fund up 0.33%, 16.32% YTD; the Asia Master Fund up 1.64%, 33.57% YTD; and the Global Special Investment Master Fund up 0.95%, 8.33% YTD.

The New York-based global institutional alternative asset manager said that its estimated unaudited assets under management (AuM) expanded by at least $500m to $24bn as of 01-Feb compared to $23.5bn as at 31 Dec-09.

The net increase in AuM is inclusive of the funds' performance in January and fresh capital from investors.

Och-Ziff managed to post positive growth despite the negative growth in the equ......................
