Charity group 100 Women in Hedge Funds is inviting everyone to come and see the special screening of the movie “Floored,” to be held on January 28 at the Roxie Theater in the heart of San Francisco's Mission District (3117 16th Street between Valencia and Guerrero).

“Floored” is a feature-length documentary that deals about the up and down lives of floor traders. Directed by James Allen Smith, the movie runs about 80 minutes. It is a gripping and honest look behind the curtain of the trading floor that few have ever seen. It is a unique insight into the lesser-known world of finance and will keep you abreast on how computerized trading is changing the dynamics on the actual trading floors.

Barron’s commented in an Aug-09 preview: “His camera captures lots of broken men. Some are deformed by the pursuit of money; others struggle to reinvent themselves since computers do what they did cheaper, faster and better. The successful floor traders are magnetic. They’re overgrown kids with money, brains and a pathological need to release stress.”

The first screening will be held at 5:30 pm while a second screening will follow at 8pm. Smith will entertain a Q&A with the viewers after each screening.
