Opalesque has learned that Paolo Cristofolini died in a mountain avalanche while skiing, on 3rd January in Verbier, Switzerland. He was buried on Thursday last week.
He was a well-known and well-liked personality in Geneva’s alternative investments community. According to Swiss wealth manager Compagnie Financière Aval (CFA), in which Mr. Cristofolini had been a member of the Strategic Committee, he co-founded and headed Bearbull Asset Management between 1989 and 1992 after 8 years as portfolio manager with JP Morgan. From 1993 to 1998 he ran Commodities Corporation. In 1999 he co-founded and was the President of Agora Capital Management, a specialized alternative investment company. He was also the director of a wine investment fund, and had been a partner at REECH AiM Group SA since March 2009. He obtained a Masters in Business Management from the Université Paris Dauphine, Paris, in the 70s.
