The depth of bench talent in the financial industry was apparent on September 16th, when five bands took the stage at Sullivan Hall in Manhattan to compete for the single remaining spot in the lineup for the main event: Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest (October 8th).
The financial crisis that felled many Wall Street firms has also made it very difficult for charities to raise money. However, Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest, which celebrates its sixth event on October 8th, has managed to grow interest from the many entities that support it.
Organized by A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO), the charitable organization that works to provide corrective surgeries and prosthetic and orthotic devices to children around the world with limb disabilities, Hedge Fund Rocktoberfest is the charity's signature fundraising event.
ALTSO reports that more corporate sponsors have signed on this year than ever before, and the bands interested in donating their time and efforts by performing and competing was such that this marked the first year the event had a wild card playoff to fill the final available spot.
