New metals fund house Altus Resource raised GBP26m at yesterday`s lising on the LSE

ALTUS Resource Capital Limited (ARC), a Guernsey-domiciled, closed-ended investment company, was listed on the Specialist Fund Market of the London Stock Exchange on 30th June 2009.

Monies totalling £26m (US$42.7m) have been raised pursuant to the company's placing of 26 million new ordinary shares of 100 pence each. Nimrod Capital LLP acted as placing agent to the company.

An industry source told Opalesque that it had been the “best placement on the LSE SFM in a long time.”

ALTUS’s investment objective is to realise capital growth from a concentrated portfolio of resource equities by primarily investing in a portfolio of what it believes to be undervalued equities in junior resource companies - which will be engaged in the exploration, development and / or mining of metals and minerals and typically have market capitalisations of less than £100m (US$164.5m). Initial focus will be on gold producers.

According to MarketWatch, gold futures fell Tuesday as the dollar strengthened after the release of lackluster data on consumer confidence and movements in U.S. home prices, reducing gold's investment appeal. The precious metal ended June trading down 5.3%, weighed down by gains in the dollar and by a lessening of inflat......................
