Opalesque Exclusive: Eswar Menon joins Gerken Capital as group portfolio manager, firm reports new Greater China region affiliate Gerken Capital Associates, the San Francisco-based, privately held alternative asset fund manager with $1.3 billion managed and advised, reported today that Eswar Menon (age 45) had joined Gerken Capital Associates as Group Portfolio Manager, effective January 1, 2009.

The firm also reported signing an exclusive long-term agreement with China Merchant Securities (CMS) Hong Kong, to serve as GCA Greater China Fund’s on-the-ground Regional Partner. In making the announcements, Lou Gerken, GCA Founder and CIO, also described his firm’s sustained, long-term view that selected emerging markets continue to offer compelling investment opportunities. Opalesque Exclusive: Millgate promotes one, hires two, equity L/S fund returned 18.2% last year Millgate Capital announced the promotion of Simon Thompson to COO and the appointment of Adrian Headon as CFO. Duncan Brown also joins Millgate in February to lead the business development efforts.

Simon joined Millgate as a partner in 2007 from Barclays Global. Adrian Headon joins Millgate from Morgan Stanley Fund Services. And Duncan Brown will be joining Millgate Capital inLondon from Winton Capital.
