London currency risk manager Cambridge Strategy makes 3 new hires, while strategies make positive returns

From the Opalesque team: During the difficult market environment, Currency Alpha Programmes have performed in line with expectations. The estimated returns for September are: Asian Markets Alpha Strategy at +2.55%, Extended Markets Alpha Strategy at +2.45%.

The Cambridge Strategy also announced three new people; Alex Edstein with more than twenty years currency experience joins the firm as a senior portfolio manager responsible for managing the firm’s exposure in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to joining, Edstein was a senior portfolio manager at Red Centre Capital and had spent ten years at HSBC Hong Kong.

Bob Colehan is joining from UBS O'Connor where he was a senior currency portfolio manager for the last twelve years and has been in the financial markets for over twenty years. Bob is joining as Managing Director- portfolio management; responsible for our G10 system. Campbell Parker has joined the middle office.

Cambridge secured its first alpha mandate in the Australian market in September (coverage) and subsequently, appointed Alexandra Edstein, a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for the Asian and Australian markets, who will manage the firm’s exposures through the Asian time zone and moving to Hong Kong to set up an office for the firm in early 2009.
