Swing Capital`s 100% FX Hybrid Fund returns +3.2% for August, puts fund at +18.84% YTD

From Kirsten Bischoff, Opalesque New York: Quebec-based Swing Capital, founded by Michel Nahmany and Frederic Bettan is one of the management firms benefitting from the volatile markets and economic swings being felt in some of the world's largest countries. Swing Capital, which manages the 100% FX Hybrid Fund has returned +3.2% in August, bringing the YTD performance to +18.84%. We had a chance to speak with co-Founder and co-Portfolio Manager Frederic Bettan about the FX markets and the hybrid nature of their strategy.

Investing utilizes a hybrid strategy which combines a systematic approach through a short term program which produces directional entry signals based on multi-time frame indicators to take advantage of intermediate trends on a multitude of approximately 20 pairs of currencies, combined with a secondary macro overview of the same currency markets which allows for discretion of the algorithm. The breakdown of the hybrid strategy is 80% systematic and 20% discretionary, "We use that discretion on a daily basis." Says Bettan.

The Fund, which trades both major currencies as well as exotic currencies, focuses heavily on 5 pairs, "We concentrate on the most liquid currencies, which are so volatile right now that we are taking advantage of that." The short term trade strategy (typical trades last a day, occasionally some may go as long as a week) has also benefited the Swing team in the current markets. For ex......................
