Event: A few available spaces remain for the 5th Hedge Fund Regatta, sailing dates July 10, July 14, August 20

Competitiveness is a trait that courses through the veins of most involved in the hedge fund industry and the Hedge Fund Regatta aims to provide the chance for you to take the competition out of the office and onto the water. The Manhattan Yacht Club, which is overseeing the 5th Annual Hedge Fund Regatta, will have preliminary Regattas on Thursday July 10th and Monday July 14th, and the Championship race will be held on Wednesday August 20th.

The Hedge Fund Regatta was established as a fundraising event for “Operation Optimist” which is a junior sailing program organized by the New York Harbor Sailing Foundation. The program, which is for children ages 7 through 13, aims to teach children not only the basics of sailing, but also the teamwork, leadership, and determination skills that are an integral part of building towards future, personal and career success.

The Race is on: So far teams from the Connecticut Hedge Fund Association, Hudson River Trading, Hudson Bay Capital Management, Moore Capital, Caxton Associates, Blue Harbour Group, as well as ten others have signed up to compete. The entry fee is a $2000 donation. Teams will race on identical J/24 sailboats provided by the Manhattan Sailing Club. J/24s usually race with five people, and a Manhattan Sailing Club member will race with each boat to provide local knowledge and familiarity with the equipment and harbor procedures.
