Opalesque Exclusive: Oryx` Gavin Butcher to focus on Optis Africa Fund from London and Rhynhardt Roodt to join Oryx SA Fund as senior analyst Gavin Butcher will be moving to London, most likely in September this year. His focus will move to the Optis Africa fund, while he will continue to be involved in the Optis SA fund. The Oryx SA fund will continue to have access to Gavin’s considerable experience in South African equities. Gavin has been involved in analyzing a number of companies around Africa over a considerable period. As one of South Africa’s best and most experienced analysts, he is set to raise the bar on the analysis of pan-African companies, and will co-manage the Optis Africa and Optis SA funds with Heiko. Barry Shamley will continue his role in executing trades and hedging for these two funds (as well as the Oryx SA fund).

Rhynhardt Roodt will be joining Oryx on 1 August. He will be joining the Oryx SA fund as a senior analyst and is expected to be appointed a co-manager of the fund in time. He has been with Investec Asset Management for the last few years and is probably their best analyst. Corporate website: www.oryxim.co.za
