GAIM Monaco day 3 - Goldman Sachs` lessons learned, Prof Altman on the credit crisis

New research from leading behavioural scientist Caltech's Prof Charles Plott presented his new research: smart market applications for predicting market impacting events - based on the premise that gathering several people's opinions and extracting the bit of information within these opinions can be analysed and thus produce a likely probability.

Goldman Sachs owns up Goldman Sachs A.M.' Dr. Robert Litterman talked about the lessons learned from the liquidity event and the implications for quantitative investing going forward.

(You may remember that Goldman Sachs's flagship Global Alpha fundrecorded the biggest loss of almost any hedge fund last year. It started last year with $10 billion, made an estimated loss of 39%. The fund lost money after recording a 7.7% drop in the last full week of July. It made a 6% loss in 2006 and a 40% gain in 2005. (......................
