Dubious Chinese `registrars` AsiaDNR, Angelfish etc. feign domain grabbing attempts in fraudulent emails to boost their business, and what happened to that Italian manufacturer

From Matthias Knab, currently in London: You may remember yesterday's story and Editorial: "Hipsen International Holdings Ltd set to grab Opalesque domains in Asia - will your domain be next?" (accessible here). I had asked if some of you had similar experiences, I got quite a few emails from the Opalesque family.

Quite a few Opalesque clients, some with sizable businesses, told me that they were approached by the AsiaDNR or a Hong Kong based firm Angelfish or Shanghai-based www.govidc.org.cn with similar emails, feigning an "immediate" domain grab by another firm, which of course can be averted by registering literally dozens of domain names through those "registrars”.

In Monday's "...And Finally" which covered a homeless woman who sneaked into a man`s house and lived undetected in his wardrobe for an entire year (see here for full story), we wrote that the Japanese are a "very clever and ingenious people." When it comes to "very clever and unscrupulous", the Chinese (or better: some Chinese) may come out first, which leads to a story I heard from a manager at a family office/fund of hedge funds at a conference a couple of months ago.
