Hipsen International Holdings Ltd set to grab Opalesque domains in Asia - will your domain be next?

Wednesday, June 04, 2008

From Matthias Knab – currently in London: Yesterday I received an alert from AsiaDnr.org, the domain name registration organization in China. The registrar informed me that on Jun 2 2008, they received an application from a company named "Hipsen International Holdings Ltd" for the following domains:

opalesque.asia opalesque.cn opalesque.com.cn opalesque.com.hk opalesque.com.tw opalesque.hk opalesque.net.cn opalesque.tw

AsiaDnr.org informed me that according to their working experience, the following may be behind this: "1. Hipsen company is a domain name investment company, they want to register these names before you and sell back to you to gain profits. 2. It may be a commercial method, Hipsen company is consigned by your competitor to register, make your clients confused."

Opalesque would be given prevalence if we wanted to register those 8 Asian domains. But then again, there are probably thousands of domain combinations which include *opalesque* - should we really go and register all those?

I tend not to do this...and instead inform you about the practices of "Hipsen International Holdings Ltd".

Could your domain be next? Please contact Opalesque (knab@opalesque.com) me if you have experience with such cases and want to share this with me.........................
