Kirsten Bischoff, Opalesque New York: As the US was mired in the Great Depression a financial bible was being written. The 1934 publication of “Security Analysis” by Benjamin Graham and David Dodd changed forever the practiced theories behind investing and allowed professional investors to see that stocks were still worth buying. Today, a first edition copy of the text many consider to be sacred is available for a mere $40,000.00, but in October 2008 an updated 75th anniversary edition will be published by Graham and Dodd’s original publisher McGraw Hill.
Warren E Buffett studied “Security Analysis” directly with Graham and Dodd who were his professors at Columbia in 1950-1951, and he has written the new foreword for this special edition commenting, “Together the book and the men changed my life.”
