Opalesque Exclusive: Emerging markets specialist hedge fund Forum Asset Management exploits market volatility to post returns of 15.96% YTD Following a gain of +9.40% in January, emerging markets specialist hedge fund Forum Asset Management posted an estimated +6.00% in its flagship emerging markets long/short credit fund the Forum Absolute Return Fund. The funds strategies have historically significantly outperformed the broad emerging markets indexes in periods of high volatility. Jose Pedreira, senior portfolio manager said "We have been bearish on certain sectors of emerging markets debt for some time now. Despite the improvement in fundamentals in some countries like Brazil, structural reforms in others have stalled or even reversed. These countries will find it increasingly difficult to fund current account deficits and address other economic ills in a period of lower global economic growth". Forum's long/short equity strategy the Forum Global Opportunity Fund has returned +17.10% (est) year to date, its agricultural commodity fund the Forum Hard Assets Fund +2.66% (est) YTD, and the Forum Asset Based Lending Fund +2.19% (est) YTD.
