Opalesque Exclusive: EIM`s Benedict Yap joins Mercer Opalesque has learned that Singapore based Benedict Yap, CFA, has left fund-of-fund EIM to join the consulting group Mercer. Benedict Yap was previously with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).

Joanne Murphy leaves Fortis From AsianInvestor.net: Joanne Murphy has departed from Fortis Bank in Hong Kong. According to her former employer she has left in order to pursue other interests. As a temporary measure, Stewart Bent is covering her job across the full region. He has also been promoted to the senior commercial role in Hong Kong, bagging the title of regional director, sales and relationship management for Asia ex-Japan. Full article: Source

Merrill hires hedge fund manager for prime broking sales From AsianInvestor.net: Merrill Lynch has hired Jeffery Levy as director of prime broking sales. He will be based in Singapore and replaces Harvey Twomey who has joined Deutsche Bank in Hong Kong.

Levy used to work for Sydney-based hedge fund FreeSpirit Group and before that, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse as an equity salesman. He was CEO of FreeSpirit and chaired the investment committee. He was in charge of the middle office systems and managed the position risks across the portfolios.
