Benedicte Gravrand, Geneva: Richard Hurowitz, Octavian Advisors’s co-founder, talked to Opalesque about the company’ specialist knowledge base and how it benefits from today’s market conditions.
About Octavian Advisors, LP
A couple of years ago, Richard Hurowitz and Gregory Racz launched Octavian Advisors, LP in New York, together with private investment firm Reservoir Capital Group as partners. Reservoir committed $100 million to Octavian from investment funds Reservoir managed. Octavian exclusively managed the assets of Reservoir and related entities initially. The fund since opened to outside investment – but it is now closed after being oversubscribed last summer. It currently manages over $1.1 billion.
Octavian employs a global special situations strategy, investing primarily outside the U.S. in event-driven, risk arbitrage, and distressed opportunities, as well as in structured, proprietary, and private instruments and transactions.
Before co-founding Octavian, Mr. Hurowitz was a partner and managing principal of Halcyon Asset Management LLC and Mr. Racz was an attorney at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, where he advised on M&A matters.
