PMA raises over USD600m for an asia & middle east equity income fund

Opalesque Exclusive: PMA Capital Management Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has started 2008 with the successful launch of the PMA Asia Middle East Equity Income Fund with assets currently in excess of USD600mm.

The Fund seeks to invest in listed equities in the Non-Japan Asia and the region with a focus on dividend-paying growth stocks.

PMA’s CEO explained, "in the process of managing our current funds we saw significant opportunities for investing in Asian and Middle Eastern stocks which offer high dividends and growth potential. Through our relationship with SPARX Asset Management, we were able to offer this investment opportunity to the Japanese investor base."

Whilst the Fund has had a very successful start, Malik predicts the assets of the Fund to rise to over USD1 billion within the first quarter of 2008. Malik stated that “many Japanese investors have expressed a very strong interest in this strategy and we are confident that we will raise additional assets for this fund."

The new fund is the first of many joint initiatives between PMA and SPARX Asset Management.

Malik says, “the new Fund has given us an entry point into and we hope to launch other products with the assistance of our colleagues at SPARX."
