Opalesque Exclusive: Toro Capital launches Australian equity and derivatives fund Singapore-based alternative investment management firm, Toro Capital Management, is launching an Australian equities and derivatives fund, the Toro Equity Derivative Fund Limited, which is open to qualified Australian and international investors. The Toro Equity Derivative Fund aims to deliver strong risk adjusted returns by investing in large cap Australian stocks using derivatives to build a long portfolio and generate income.

Toro Capital Management has appointed Melbourne, Australia-based investment advisers Michael Tortoni and Raden Rodrigue who will advise Toro using a derivatives strategy based on their disciplined processes developed over 20 years investing in the Australian equities and derivatives market.

Mr Rodrigue said that the team has a strong track record and specialist experience in derivatives. “As the share market cycle nears maturity it is an appropriate time to diversify investment risk by investing in alternate asset classes. The Toro Fund aims to outperform in flat and falling markets but still deliver strongly during bull markets.” “Our strategy is based on disciplined processes and our judgment based on extensive experience in the equities and derivatives market. We aim to deliver superior risk adjusted returns for Toro by purchasing stocks at a price advantage and using derivatives for income rather than leverage.”
