From Benedicte Gravrand, Geneva: Mr. Uwe Eberle, chief executive officer (institutional relationships) for Man Investments talked to Opalesque about Man and one of its core investment managers RMF Investment Management , Man’s new environmental funds, its focus on research and its unique model for success.
Man’s own rising star
The June edition of Institutional Investor News drew up a list of the 20 ‘up-and-coming executives from around the world who are likely to impact the global hedge fund and alternative investment industry’; the rising stars in hedge funds (full article). Mr. Eberle was one of them. “I was very happy about it,” he said. “I assume I got the nomination for what I did on the RMF side. We built a strong New Alternatives and Research team at RMF.”
“I started building up the New Alternatives department of RMF in 2002. The department focused on the research of new asset classes, new topics like commodities, reinsurance, electricity… In 2004 I was asked to head the research team of close to 30 due diligence analysts based around the world at RMF. A year ago, I moved over to Man Investments where I now head the European and U.S. institutional sales team from New York. I divide my time between the U.S., Switzerland and other travelling. “
