Hedge fund Rising Stars revisited – Ravi Gopalakrishnan and The Hudson Fairfax Group: Turbulent markets not a cause for panic in India

The Hudson Fairfax Group is an investment firm focused on sponsoring and promoting India-related investments, in particular its development of the HFG India Continuum Fund, an investment fund that focuses on publicly traded equities of Indian companies and other securities linked to these securities, as allowed by prevailing regulations in India. Mr. Manish Thakur, managing partner and CEO, formerly managing director at SG Cowen Securities Corporation with prior investment banking experience at Merrill Lynch & Co., gave Opalesque his perspective on the current situation in India.

A greater outlook “What makes Hudson Fairfax very different from a lot of Indian investment firms is that we also have a strong international team. We have an investment committee that is based in the U.S. chaired by Michael Landry, who used to be the global portfolio manager for Templeton. The two managing partners are Armeane Choksi and myself. Armeane was Vice President of the World Bank and actually the highest ethnic Indian bank so he has a very involved network.
