Whilst the Cayman Islands is the market leader in choice of domicile for offshore funds, the British Virgin Islands (the “BVI”) has long been and continues to be the main alternative jurisdiction considered by investment managers and their onshore counsel when deciding to set up and launch an offshore fund.

Given the similarities between BVI and Cayman Islands funds (both in their characteristics and regulation), investment managers and their onshore counsel frequently find very little to actually distinguish BVI and Cayman Islands domiciled funds from......................
