Opalesque Exclusive: World Hedge Fund Forum `to promote dialogue and remove some of the mystery and misperception on alternatives`, drew over 500, conference review
Opalesque Note: I had the pleasure to contribute some modest input to this event as Advisory Board Member. Opalesque readers told me the conference turned out to be “very successful”. Unfortunately, due to a trip to Asia, I could not attend this year but will try hard to make it next time.
The organizers from the Connecticut Hedge Fund Association issued the following statement: “The World Hedge Fund Forum concluded its first annual event on Tuesday, March 6. The two day Forum was attended by over 500 industry professionals and government dignitaries. Highlights from day-one included welcome presentations from Lt. Governor Michael Fedele, Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, and a special guest appearance by CT Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
Day-two included presentations from leading hedge fund managers including Richard Chilton (Chilton Investment Co), Dan Gressel (Teleos Management), and Ken Tropin (Graham Capital), a keynote address by Tony Ryan, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Services, and a global economic perspective by Professor Nouriel Roubini, who recently returned from The World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland.
