Credit Suisse study on global asset growth - index and alternatives assets winners
Matthias Knab reports from the Funds World Conference in Bombay, India: Robert Parker, Vice Chairman of Credit Suisse Asset Management UK, presented a study on the growth and allocation of “professionally managed assets”. In this study, assets from insurance companies, government, charity and other entities for which no professional fee is charged were excluded.
In 2005 estimated at US$ 57 trln, expected to grow by 2009 to US$ 72 trln.
U.S. will be growing from $26.9 trln up to $34.3 trln,
EU (excluding Switzerland): from $20.9 trln to $25.0 trln
Asia-Pacific (including India) will be growing from $16.8 trln to $23.9 trln
Middle East and Africa $1.95 trln to $2.7 trln.
Within this growth, there are losers and winners:
- Fixed income will be reduced from 45.7% to 40.7%
Equities down from 35.3% to 33.3%
- Index (including ETFs): from 10.2% up to 14.5%
- Alternatives from 8.5% up to 11.3%:
- Real Estate: from 1.5% up to 1.7%
- Private Equity: from 2.4% up to 3.1%
- Hedge Funds: from 2.0% up to 2.6%
- Structured Products: from 1.9% to 2.9%
- Quantitative Products: from 1.0% to 1.3%
Big quest and race on for sector and thematic Indian funds
Francois Bloch from Swiss private bank AMAS, predicts big quest and race for sector and thematic funds in India, massively driving growth over the next two and three years.
