Industry Comings and Goings:

Congratulations to Alpha Metrix’s Jason Leffakis, promoted to Managing Director, Hedge Fund Sales.

Friday, June 01, 2012

AlphaMetrix offers a transparent risk management platform for hedge funds and managed futures investments.

Leading managed futures trend follower, Man Group, recently purchased Financial Risk Management Holdings, an $8 billion fund for which the deal called for no up-front payment. The Financial Risk Management acquisition will increase Man Group’s assets under management in its multimanager business by 33% and boosts their overall assets by roughly 13%.

David Pendlebury, CEO of Harmonic Capital, a London firm with just under $1 billion under management, named Per Ivarsson a partner. The firm saw significant growth as it marketed towards pension funds and professional investors.

Congratulations to author and managed futures portfolio expert Jack Schwager, who launched his first book in 12 years, Hedge Fund Market Wizards [Link: http://www.wiley.com/buy/9781118273043 http://www.amazon.com/Hedge-Fund-Market-Wizards-ebook/dp/B007YGGOVM]

According to a press release, "Hedge Fund Market Wizards follows the successful format utilized in Market Wizards and New Market Wizards and seeks to identify the lessons and insights of 15 exceptional traders with styles ranging from global macro to technical analysis to quant to stock fundamentals." The interviews include some of the most prominent managers in the hedge fund industry--e.g., Ray Dalio, Ed Thorp, Michael Platt, Joel Greenblatt, Martin Taylor--as well as unknown solo and prop traders.

Comment: Book is worth a look just for the Ray Dalio interview alone.
