Canadian hedge fund Ninepoint Partners to launch two, merge two funds in 2018

Toronto-Canada-based hedge fund Ninepoint Partners LP has announced the launch of Sprott International Small Cap Fund and Sprott Concentrated Canadian Equity Fund and that the firm will start accepting subscriptions for the two new funds in March this year.

Ninepoint Partners, which assumed portfolio management of diversified assets of Sprott Asset Management (SAM), including actively managed hedge and mutual funds, said it also plans to merge two funds under one management.

The Sprott International Small Cap Fund will seek to provide unitholders with long term capital appreciation by investing primarily in a portfolio of international small capitalization equity securities of issuers in countries and industries primarily located in Europe, Japan and Asia-Pacific ex-Japan.

While the Sprott Concentrated Canadian Equity Fund will seek to provide unitholders with long term capital appreciation by investing primarily in a concentrated portfolio of Canadian equity securities.

Ninpoint added that it plans to merge Sprott Small Cap Equity Fund into Sprott International Small Cap Fund and Sprott Canadian Equity Fund into Sprott Concentrated Canadian Equity Fund.
