In the week ending 05 January, 2018, it was reported that Michael Gelband will start his long-anticipated hedge fund in the next six months after resolving a hiring dispute with billionaire Izzy Englander; Disciplina Asset Management announced the launch of a new systematic Asian focused hedge fund; Hassim Osman Dhoda has left Moore Capital to launch a new macro fund - Soloda Investment Advisors; and Vanessa Selbst as left PokerStars to focus on her hedge fund.

Steve Cohen is planning his return with a hedge fund launch this year; Cohen plans to hire 50 'investigators' to monitor suspicious behavior at his new hedge fund; Data from CIMA showed that the number of Cayman-registered hedge funds fell fell in 2016 but assets rose; the Carlyle Group has raised more than $800 million for the Carlyle Structured Credit Fund (CSC); and Aquiline Capital Partners backs Armour ......................
