Opalesque Roundup: Dozens of new cryptocurrency hedge funds push onto the market: hedge fund news, week 36

In the week ending 01 September, 2017, In FinTech, Autonomous NEXT has released a list of 55 cryptocurrency hedge funds, illustrating the mounting interest in the space at a time when even middle-class Americans are said to be growing quite fond of bitcoin and cryptocurrency investment. John Chalekson bitcoin hedge fund's 2,129% returns in August is raising concerns. Meanwhile, the average equity hedge funds have outperformed quant equity funds so far this year. Other reports said hedge funds are expecting a gold rush in data mining; and Kik Interactive said it would launch the sale of its own cryptocurrency which is expected to raise $125m; Gravity4 is preparing its cryptocurrency offering with global event series, including in New York City, Singapore and London.
