Andrew McCormick From Precy Dumlao, Opalesque Asia:
The global market will experience "large price swings, one way or another, for many years to come," says Andrew McCormick, Managing Member at MKC Global Fund LP managed by MKC Global Investments, LLC, a commodity pool operator (CPO) based in Seattle, Washington. "In my experience, highly profitable periods are followed by lackluster periods and vice versa," McCormick told Opalesque in an exclusive interview.
"The performance of an investment in a trend following fund will move in waves, periods of high profitability follow periods of lackluster performance and vice versa. I have absolutely no idea what will unfold during the second half of 2011, but I am always optimistic. I imagine that risk assets around the world will decline for some time and if that is the case we will be short. At some point down the road, maybe several years away, I imagine the United States will witness heavy inflation. With that said, it makes sense that we see a deflationary period first which would coincide with a downward move in U.S. stocks which remain in a secular bear market. Regardless, I am optimistic about the future," he continued.
McCormick’s take on the prospect of the global markets is a fresh viewpoint, and offers new hopes after stock markets across the globe reacted negatively over news that ratings agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. ratings from AAA to AA+.
