Business leaders believe Ernest & Young has role in collapse of Lehman Brothers, charges should be filed

Majority of business leaders surveyed by Argyle Executive Forum, a membership-based professional services firm, believe that Ernst & Young "had a material role in the collapse of Lehman Brothers," and that the Attorney General should move forward with fraud charges against the accounting and auditing firm.

At least 39.2% of those polled voted that Ernst & Young had a role in the fall of Lehman Brothers, while 35.5% say Ernst & Young did not had a material role. Some 25.3% say they are of unsure.

A big 48.4% of the respondents agree with the move of New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo to proceed with the fraud charges against Ernst & Young. On the other hand, a minority 27.3% say they disagree with Cuomo. At least 24.3% are undecided.

The suit, led by Andrew Cuomo, could come as early as this week and might seek to impose fines and other penalties, the paper said.
