While there is certainly no exchange for trading such projects, once operational, such projects can be fairly easily bought and sold. As such projects behave as nothing more than a long term set of cash flows with bond like returns. While such transactions can take some time to execute, willing buyers are reasonably readily available. Asset Liability Management (ALM) ALM embraces a multi-period approach which allows one to make an explicit trade-off between the long term goals and short term criteria Reactions to an EDHEC Study on Asset-Liability Management Decisions in Private Wealth Management - October 2008: “... ALM leads to the construction of more efficient portfolios than does standard asset management by explicitly making personal liabilities a part of the asset allocation equation.”… Investing in a viatical policy In Canada there is no organised market for either product, so there is huge growth potential. Establishing a viatical loan company to operate in North America - without any leverage the ROI should be in the region of 12 - 15%.
