Arion Investment Management launches the 'Raptor Commodities Fund'

Thursday, October 26, 2017
Opalesque Industry Update - Arion Investment Management, the London based commodity specialist, is pleased to announce the launch of its first strategy to be invested in a fund structure. The strategy will be run via a Maltese SICAV and called the Raptor Commodities Fund.

Raptor is a discretionary, relative value commodity focused strategy run by portfolio manager, Darius Tabatabai and team. The fund will initially target relative value opportunities in base and precious metals markets using a full range of trading instruments, before expanding to other commodities.

"Our advantage lies in our ability to understand opportunity. By focusing on trade structure and risk management we believe we can achieve superior risk adjusted returns." - Darius Tabatabai, Portfolio Manager.

Darius previously worked at UBS, Credit Suisse (as head of precious metals trading) and Bank of America Merrill Lynch (as global head of Metals).

Gerardo Tarricone, Managing Director and Founder of Arion Investment Management, commented: "We have set up the fund in order to take advantage of opportunities that have arisen, post the financial crisis. Large institutions, market makers and banks have removed liquidity and risk-taking capabilities and withdrawn from the commodity space. We believe there is an opportunity to exploit inefficiencies in the market that previously didn't exist."
