Why has the listing of law firms on a stock index been legally allowed by certain countries and not others?.

So far it has only been permitted in Australia, but there is legislation pending in the United Kingdom that would permit it there as well. One of the most significant original reasons for suggesting the possibility of outside equity investment in law firms in the UK has been the belief that this would improve access to legal services for individuals of modest means.
