LGT Capital Partners wins GBP280m alternatives mandate from Hertfordshire County Council

Friday, January 18, 2013
Opalesque Industry Update - LGT Capital Partners has won a GBP 280 million multi-alternatives mandate from Hertfordshire County Council. It represents one of the largest mandates focused exclusively on alternative investments ever awarded by a UK local authority pension fund. The mandate includes hedge funds, commodities, insurance-linked securities, property, private equity and other alternative asset classes.

Roberto Paganoni, CEO of LGT Capital Partners, comments: "We are delighted to be able to work with Hertfordshire County Council on this mandate, which will provide their pension fund with an actively managed portfolio of nine alternative asset classes, access to best-in-class external managers and the convenience of a single reporting solution for their alternative investments."

LGT Capital Partners recognized the difficulties some pension funds, such as UK local authorities, face in accessing alternative investments, so in 2011 the firm developed a multi-alternatives offering especially for these investors, based on its fourteen-year track record.
