Focus Investment Group plans to launch a UCITS fund of funds as new Preqin survey showing potential for massive asset growth in UCITS space

The latest research on UCITS investing was released by Preqin this week (Full report available: here), and showed that although only 8% of the survey's investor respondents currently invest in UCITS funds, a full 35% anticipate investing in these vehicles over the next 6-12 months. Perhaps most interesting was the fact that these investors looking at the UCITS space included two US college endowments and a US based charitable foundation, evidence that what was previously a space occupied largely by European investors, is rapidly becoming a focus for investors around the globe.

For firm like Bermuda-based, fund of funds manager Focus Investment Group, UCITS represent a way to allocate the assets of investors who are putting an increased focus on maintaining high levels of liquidity and transparency. The firm intends to launch a multi-manager fund of UCITS funds - Focus Liquidity UCITS Fund in the 2Q of 2010 on.

"Because a UCITS fund has additional regulatory oversight as well as weekly liquidity, we believe they are a better alternative than managed accounts," says Mazen Jabban of Focus Investment Group. "When you overlay the key attributes of UCITS products with the transparency that Focus Investment Group requires of all its managers, you get the best of both worlds, without having to deal with some of the cost/......................
