The $600 trading desk: CT hedge fund hotel aims at jobless NY traders

In 2001, Jamie Lissette founded Active Trader Forum, the longest running conversation between top US traders.

The forum, which evolved organically from conversations originally conducted through basic instant messenger windows is now run on proprietary software and provides traders with an online arena to share information, commentary, and to network. Opalesque recently learned that Lissette is expanding his reach offline, now also providing a physical space for traders and other financiers to gather and work.

“The main difference between what we are doing here, and what is typically done at these types of ‘hedge fund hotels’ is that we are not a broker dealer. Anyone who comes in here to work is not beholden to commit to any trading relationships. We are a broker agnostic situation,” says Lissette.

90 Post Road West, in Westport Connecticut is a three-story standalone building that Lissette has set up to house trading desks, individual offices, conference rooms, and a reception area. The space launched on July 1st with a built out first floor that offers a 14 seat trading desk and 4 individual offices. With an option on space for an additional 30 seat trading desk, 8 individual offices and a conference room.
