Industry experts launch Darwin Financial Platform, will be offering full-service business partnership to start-ups

By Benedicte Gravrand, Opalesque London: Clayton Heijman yesterday confirmed rumours about a new Netherland-based platform, called the Darwin Platform, which is now open to the financial market after having undergone several months of preparation.

The new business venture, launched by experts in the securities industry, will be offering a full-service business partnership to start-ups. The three main areas of focus will be: - Facilitating the set up of new onshore and offshore funds, - Providing a wide range of middle-office services, - Supporting the marketing and distribution of the funds.

The platform comes in right on time to meet investors’ demands: in the past, investors focused mostly on the investment strategy and the track records of the managers. However, following developments in the market, investors nowadays rely heavily on business support with independent fund administration, compliance and risk management checks.

Servicing who? Together with several domestic and international renowned companies in the investment management industry, Darwin Financial Platform will be targeting small and mid sized alternative and traditional investment funds across different strategies.

Heijman said that three investment funds had already signed up, and that with the growing interest in Dutch onshore fund structures, he anticipated the number of funds to grow rapidly over the next few months. He told Opalesque that ......................
