Nikko Asset Management taps Iwama for director role

Opalesque Industry Update - Nikko Asset Management Co., Ltd. confirmed the appointment of Yoichiro Iwama as Outside Director. When he assumes the role, he is also to be appointed Chairman of the Firm's Board of Directors, effective 15 May.

Nikko AM is focused on the highest standards of stewardship, and intends to leverage Mr. Iwama's role as Outside Director and Chairman of the Board to further enhance its governance, tapping his rich insight into the asset management industry and corporate governance.

Mr. Iwama holds a wealth of managerial experience in asset management in Japan, encompassing a broad range of senior roles, including most recently Representative Director, Tokio Marine Asset Management Co., Ltd. until 2010. He also acted as Chairman of the Japan Securities Investment Advisers Association for seven years from June 2010, the self-regulatory body for the industry in Japan. In this role, he displayed strong leadership in heightening stewardship at asset managers and corporate governance at invested companies.
